"Rungu" - Warrior Club Maasai
"Rungu" is Swahili for weapon or club. A rungu is used by a warrior in the wild for protection against attack. In Maasai culture, the rungu is an important emblem of warrior status for young males. A special one is held by the speaker at important tribal gatherings.

This rungu is hand carved out of olive tree wood and then decorated by the mamas of the village with beads and 4 silver medallions. Dimensions are 17.5" long, 8" around the top and 3.5" around the handle.
