ZULU Palm weaved bags are hand made from Ilala palm. Some with the most intricate designs take weeks of labor to produce just one basket. These high quality handbags are often given as wedding gifts among the ZULU. This handbag was made by the Sivosenkosi Women's Co-Op in Kwa Zulu Natal, South Africa.  Artisans pictured.

These women care for not only their own families but many orphans who have lost their parents from the Aids virus. Their average income per year is $150 US.
